About
Synthesia is a browser-based AI video platform aimed at businesses. Users make videos with stock or personal AI avatars, AI voiceovers and motion graphics, starting from a prompt, a script, a document, slides or a URL. Its Syren and AI Video Assistant features turn a prompt and uploaded files into a video. Videos are built in a scene-based editor from templates for training, explainers, marketing, hiring and onboarding, and product showcases. Videos can be translated into 140+ languages and published as a link, embed or SCORM package for an LMS, with built-in analytics. It also sells interactive avatar Sessions for roleplays and surveys, and an API for video, dubbing and real-time avatars.
Ideal for
Corporate L&D, internal communications and enablement teams that need many consistent, multilingual avatar-presented training and explainer videos delivered through an LMS or share links.

Do not roll over
Credits reset at the start of each billing period and are lost on upgrade.
A finished avatar video, not scenes to build
Persona I puts a photoreal avatar host inside an edited video, with footage generated for every line of your script. In Synthesia you add stock footage or generate clips yourself and edit scene by scene.
Less per minute at the matched model
Persona I runs $0.41 to $0.61 a minute for an edited avatar video with footage for every line. Synthesia Studio video runs $0.70 to $1.19 a minute on Starter and Pro, for an avatar reading your script in scenes you build.
Changes cost a swap, not a rebuild
VidRush has a real timeline editor and Rush Agent chat edits, and a re-render costs 10% of the original credits. Synthesia recalculates credits on every edited version it generates.
Unused credits roll over
VidRush credits roll over, up to half the monthly allotment, and are charged only when a video completes. Synthesia credits reset each billing period and are lost on a mid-cycle upgrade.
Your presenter from one photo
Build a custom avatar from a single photo of yourself, private to your workspace. Synthesia records personal avatars on camera. Custom Avatar is rolling out gradually.
Room for long modules
Persona I videos run up to 40 minutes, and Mini and Pro videos run 6 to 60. Reviewers report Synthesia's minute-based pricing gets expensive for long-form or frequent videos.
A quote before any credit is spent
The Quote Statement shows model, duration, voice and estimated credits before anything runs, so you know what a long onboarding video will cost before you commit.
Real licensed footage on Pro
Mini and Pro build the whole video from a brief, and Pro uses licensed Storyblocks footage. Synthesia's stock is a Shutterstock library you place scene by scene.
Pros
Voices in 140+ languages, with 1-click translation of whole videos on Enterprise.
Publishes as share link, embed or SCORM, and updates LMS copies when a video is edited.
Large stock avatar library, from 125+ on Starter to 240+ on Enterprise.
Starts a video from a prompt, script, PowerPoint, PDF, document or URL.
Interactive quizzes, branching scenarios and built-in watch analytics.
Cons
You finish the video yourself: footage from a library or AI Playground, a scene-based editor, and music you pick or upload.
Credits reset each billing period, are lost on a mid-cycle upgrade, and are recalculated on every edited version.
Reviewers report avatar lip-sync can look stiff in longer clips and that voices sound synthetic.
Reviewers report uploading your own voice is Enterprise-only; Brand Kits and live collaboration are too.
Starter and Pro include one editor seat.
Reviewers report strict manual moderation of generated videos and no 4K output.

It helped me monetize a channel in 1 month.
“So far, the vidrush videos went viral much faster and more often than the ones my editors did. AND, I created those videos in 1-2 hours, with minimal input on my end. Maybe I changed 1 or 2 scenes. The videos turn out very good.”

From zero to 3 monetized channels in 5 months
“In that short time I managed to monetize three YouTube channels. That's something I never would have pulled off so fast with a traditional setup. What used to take my team roughly four days to coordinate, scripting, editing, voiceover, finding the right footage, I can now get done in under 30 minutes.”

“My editors have been in panic mode since I started using vidrush. It makes great videos in a few hours and also create thumbnail for it. The editing is better than 70% of my editors.”

Saves a Huge Amount of Time and Delivers Real Quality
“I especially want to highlight the custom script feature, which lets you personalize content nicely, as well as the rendering quality, which is consistently solid.”

World-Class Tool, World-Class Support
“VidRush has become the backbone of my entire production workflow. The voice quality, imagery, and video output are genuinely impressive, everything comes out looking and sounding professional without the hours of manual editing other tools require.”

Vidrush is Lifechanging
“Vidrush is insane, I've gotten multiple bangers and made my money back so early that every video afterwards is just playing with house money (one vid hit 1.3M views early on and I barely knew what I was doing back then).”

Honestly the Customer Service Sucks
“Since the switch from time-based usage to a credit system, the experience has become really frustrating. What wasn't made clear during the plan comparison is that if you don't use your credits in a given month—even if you continue paying for your subscription—they don't roll over.”

Think if you can deal with their censorship.
“Every generated video goes to manual moderation and you have to wait until their censor check your every single word - if it's correct for them or not.”

Sometimes the emotion and emphasis is awful
“Sometimes the emotion and emphasis is horrible and there is no way to correct it. I use text a to speech AI that allows me to nail the emphasis, but unfortunately synthesia will not import it into my video.”

Using the Powerpoint to Video route
“Using the Powerpoint to Video route, I have been able to rapidly produce over 12 videos that contain my personal avatar so that "I" am narrating the video. Synthesia creates an incredible video.”
